Security is a vital issue these days. You can find a security system in most homes, especially those with families in them. With the crime rate climbing the way it is today, it seems likely that within the next few years every home will have one. There are a few ways to ensure the safety of your home and family.

First off is the home security system you can get from major companies. The biggest of these companies would be Brinks and ADT. With each of these companies you can pick different packages to fit your needs. The equipment you can choose from are commonly key pads (which you input a code in when you enter the house), window detectors(which will let you know if any windows are open, and stickers/ signs for your front to let potential burglars there is a risk with breaking into your home. When someone enters your home and does not input the right code, the system will automatically call the alarm company. They in turn call you to make sure everything is Ok. If you don’t answer, the police are then called to check up on the house.

Then there is the personal home security system, which you can install and upgrade at your leisure. You can get packages at store such as Wal-Mart and Best Buy with cameras and video equipment. There are a variety of cameras you can install. Mainly wireless and wire cameras. You can also hook the cameras up to a surveillance system with monitors and recording equipment. With your own system, it could do anything you want. Say your entire family is going on vacation, you could set up your security system so that you could log onto it from any computer. This would allow you to see your home where ever you go. In addition to this, you can install a recorder which will record everything for you to look through if you ever see anything is missing.

In addition to normal cameras, you could also put in panning cameras which move back in forth to capture a large area. Night vision cameras are also nice. They can see in the darkness, and would allow the most security as they would be able to capture what is happening no matter what time of day it is.
